Over 1000 people attend Hampden Social Media & Marketing Expo
Expo Scotland brought business and social media leaders together for workshops and seminars
People from across the business world descended on the National Stadium to share ideas and experiences from across the world of business and social media.
Expo Scotland brought together exhibitors, delegates and well-known figures from across different industries, offering unique networking opportunities for delegates and the chance for the 120 exhibitors to showcase their businesses.
Running from 9am to 4pm on 24 May, the free event was host to more than 30 workshops and seminars from some of the market leaders in social media.
Now in its sixth year, the event is organised by Hashtag Events and co-located within the Scottish Social Media & Marketing show. CEO of Hashtag Events Andrew Charlton said: “You come along here, there’s 18 speakers talking on every topic under the sun to do with business and social media and the idea is that none of them are sales pitches, they’re all an opportunity to learn a skill, take it back to the office and do it tomorrow and make a tangible difference to how you run your business.
“I think the bottom line is this that this is an opportunity to get your business in front of 1000 people in a single day. [For exhibitors] its tremendous value for money, and in terms of your return on investment, it’s almost impossible to go away from a show like this without an opportunity which could pay for itself.”
Speakers at the event hailed from a variety of backgrounds and industries, while maintaining the theme of social media and marketing.
Notable attendees included David Hood, the Founder of the Edinburgh Institute for Collaborative & Competitive Advantage, stress management expert and life coach Geoff Nicholson, and star of The Apprentice Neil Clough.
Subjects covered included sales, content marketing, social media and networking. Graham Innes, co-founder of Creation Social Media, who spoke at the event, said: “There are always going to be people that come along which you haven’t met before and we’ve always found we’ve made some good connections and been able to follow up those connections and do some good business.
“I think the expos been going around for long enough that it’s got a really good reputation that people should see and want to come to and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Great speakers, lots and lots of people with different types of businesses and lots and lots of chances to make good connections.”
SEO expert Mike Berry, of Social Media Management Services, who addressed and exhibited at the event, said: “I’ve been here four or five times. Inevitably you’re going to get clients. On the day, you’ll get a number of approaches, and beyond that it’s up to you and how you follow that up.”
Hashtag Events run similar Expos across the country, operating throughout the UK and offering shows in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Keep up to date with their upcoming shows by following them on Twitter, or visiting their website.
